NEW PETROL STATION, CARNARVON, NORTHERN CAPE

tommaso fiscaletti December 20, 2017

“Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader.” - Alien in an old Petrol pump joke. Petrol pump found in the small town of Carnarvon near the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) site - where there is an international collaboration around building the world’s largest radio telescope.

The lights are left on through the night at this new petrol station building site - mainly for safety. The manager of the building project, who also slept on site, was eager to show visitors around - clearly dedicated to building a place that everyone could be proud of. He also explained that the station will be named after the owner's daughter, who, as she grew up always loved going to the petrol station - loving the energy of the attendants working at petrol stations.
